As a teacher, Larry Vann has one goal:
“To take students from introductory to performance level, to teach students a drummer’s main job – to be the time keeper in any ensemble, an orchestra, jazz band, rock band, power trio – whatever music ensemble in which they are participating; equip the student with the ability to play the fundamental styles, blues shuffles, rock patterns, basic jazz patterns, funk patterns.”
Some of Larry Vann’s previous students have gone on to the famed Berkelee College of Music in Boston and several students are now performing professionally with some top name recording artists
Teaching Skill Fundamentals:
Teaches the fundamentals of music and fundamentals of percussion utilizing the drum kit, practice pad, audio/visual tools and text books; how to play basic, fundamental rhythms and patterns within different genres: rock, blues, soul and Latin rhythms; teach music theory
Students will gain the fundamental knowledge of drumming, coordination in their playing, acquire control, speed, touch, flexibility, power and be able to play on an advanced to professional level
Introduce student to fundamentals of music through utilizing the drum kit; how to read drum music through notation, teaches drum rudiments such as the paradiddle, Five Stroke Roll, Single Stroke, Flam and note values
